On the 5th of September, our Grade 5 students had an exciting and educational field trip to the Science Museum as part of their ongoing project on motion mechanics under the theme `how the world works´. The focus was on understanding how boats, planes, and cars work, with a special emphasis on the mechanical aspects of motion. Upon arriving at the museum, students were given worksheets that tasked them with identifying the different parts of boats and documenting their findings. Equipped with their iPads, they enthusiastically took pictures as they explored the exhibits, applying their knowledge to real-life examples. This activity is aimed at building understanding and later on the application of knowledge when the students build their own boat models.

Afterwards, the students had the opportunity to explore various interactive sections of the museum, including fun and engaging activities like driving simulations, voice tubes, pendulums, and a pulley system. One of the highlights was the space section, where the students were thrilled to see rockets up close.

Despite all the exhibits being in Chinese, our students engaged fully, asking questions and making connections between what they had learned in class and what they saw in the museum.

After returning to school, students had lunch and smoothly transitioned back into their regular class schedule. Overall, it was a highly productive and enjoyable day, sparking curiosity and reinforcing their understanding of motion mechanics in a hands-on environment.
